Unhappy wife, unhappy life.
A man’s attempt to get a quick laugh during his wedding backfired when he embarrassed his soon-to-be wife on their big day.
Standing at the altar preparing to read his vows, the groom, named Douglas, pulled out a folded piece of paper with the words “HELP ME!” written on the back.
“You are the love of my life the most beautiful” Douglas begins to read.
He is then interrupted as the shocked bride swats at him with her bouquet of flowers.
“I’m kidding, it’s a joke, it’s a joke,” he says as only the woman behind the camera could be heard laughing.
“It’s not funny” the bride exclaims, whose displeasure with the groom is clearly visible on her face.

The unhappy woman wasn’t the only one disgusted with the ill-timed joke as one dating coach publicly called out the groom’s antics.
“What is it about a man, who is at the altar with the woman that he has proposed, right before he promises to love, honor, and cherish her, that makes him want to humiliate that woman? content creator Shawnda said on her TikTok LifeCoachShawn.
“If he’s not wrestling that woman down to the ground for the ol’ cake smashing, if he’s not disrespecting her in the vows, he’s got some kind of prank or some kind of joke, some kind of way he has to humiliate this person for making him stand up and marry him.”

“I have no respect for the kind of man that takes that day, that opportunity to get themself a cheap laugh, because that crowd was dry.”
Shawnda pointed out no one was laughing at the joke besides the groom and the lady recording the embarrassing ceremony.

“It’s no time for jokes, a ‘Help Me!’ sign? like she’s holding you hostage?” “It wasn’t even worth it, the juice wasn’t even worth the squeeze, you humiliated this woman for what? So that the one girl holding the camera could get a little laugh?”
Many users on social media agreed with the dating coach.
“Her face… she was crushed,” one comment, which has been liked 43,000 times said.
“I would leave him at the altar … and see who gets the real humiliation. Real love = respect period,” another viewer added.
“The officiants face says it all. as a man he just looks so disappointed and embarrassed, and worried for the woman,” a third said.
“She most likely spent months planning every second of that day, and the only thing he put any effort in to was *THAT*.”
A hostage sign isn’t the only thing that has gotten grooms in hot water with their brides.
In September an anonymous bride took to Reddit to see if she was the one at fault for storming out of her wedding after her husband smashed a cake into her face after telling him not to because she was cut on her forehead and suffered “substantial bleeding” from a similar situation when she was younger.
The bride wrote that she felt that their wedding day had gone perfectly, but it was ruined when her husband scooped “a huge chunk” of wedding cake and smashed it onto her face. She claims she left the venue right away despite her husband’s and family’s attempts to get her to stay.
It’s not always a one-man job for bad weddings as a newlywed couple in France was called out for serving McDonald’s at their reception.
“I was afraid that we were going to pay for something that we did not like,” the bride told Le Parisien newspaper. “If you are going to pay, you may as well get something you like.”
