A teenage girl was allegedly punched, kicked and kneed by two other girls in a “prolonged assault” in Canberra.

Footage of the alleged “forcible confinement and prolonged, violent assault” was given to police after they were directed toward an injured girl near a fast food restaurant in a northern suburb yesterday.

She suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital, while police arrested two girls – aged 11 and 14 – in their homes.

“The video showed two girls confining the third girl, before they repeatedly punched, kicked and kneed the girl,” ACT Police said in a statement.

They allegedly threatened the girl with further violence if she came forward about the attack.

”The 11-year-old and the 14-year-old have both been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, joint commission forcible confinement and threatening a participant in a criminal investigation,” police said.

They will face ACT Children’s Court later today.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
