Gigi Hadid admits she’s a ‘nepo baby’: ‘I’m not the prettiest person in the world’

Gigi Hadid has admitted to being a “nepo baby” — saying she doesn’t think of herself as the “prettiest person in the world.”

The supermodel is considered to be one of the most successful runway stars in the world, along with her sister Bella Hadid, but even she admits to having some much-needed help to get to the top.

“Technically I’m a nepotism baby,” Hadid told the Times of London. “My parents came from very little.”

“I’ve always acknowledged that I come from privilege,” she added.

The model, whose real name is Jelena Hadid, 27, is the daughter of Dutch model Yolanda Hadid, who also starred in “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” from 2012 until 2016.

Meanwhile, her father is Palestinian-born property developer and magnate Mohamed Hadid.

“My parents told me, ‘Just because you have parents who were successful, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t walk into the job being as nice and as hard-working as you can be,’” Gigi added.

The term “nepo baby” refers to celeb children who’ve gotten a leg up in the entertainment industry because of their famous parents, and served as the inspiration behind New York magazine’s viral “Year of the Nepo Baby” cover story.

Gigi added that she doesn’t think she is the “prettiest person in the world” and could “probably do” with some Botox.

In her journey to reaching global stardom, Gigi landed her first modeling gig when she was just two.

She went on to work with Victoria’s Secret, before making her New York Fashion Week runway debut in 2014.

Since then, she’s walked the runway for pretty much every fashion house and has graced the cover of every fashion magazine.

Hadid’s comments on nepotism come three months after Vulture posted an article name-dropping all of the people in Hollywood who have benefited from being children of famous parents.

Some of those named included Lottie Moss, half-sister of Kate Moss; O’Shea Jackson Jr., the son of rapper Ice Cube; and Lily Allen, daughter of actor Keith Allen and movie producer Alison Owen.

While most celebs have chosen to remain mum on the topic, actress Jamie Lee Curtis recently joked about being a product of nepotism during her monologue at the 2023 SAG Awards.

“I got my SAG card when I was 19 years old, when I signed a seven-year contract to Universal Studios and starred in an ABC TV series called the ‘Operation Petticoat,’ which was based on the movie that my father, Tony Curtis — nepo baby — starred in,” Curtis said last month.

“The current conversation about nepo babies is just designed to try to diminish and denigrate and hurt. For the record, I have navigated 44 years with the advantages my associated and reflected fame brought me.

“I don’t pretend there aren’t any, that try to tell me that I have no value on my own,” she concluded.
