A group of youths have been dramatically arrested in the heart of Sydney’s CBD after leading police on a chase through the city.

Officers swarmed to the Dymocks building on George Street around 2.20pm on Tuesday after receiving reports a group of young people had threated a customer at knife point.

Police chased the group after they fled the scene, heading southbound on George Street.

Officers later arrested around six people – including two males, two females, two juveniles – at Town Hall station around 2:50pm.

‘This is not a standard shoplifting situation’ an officer told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday.

The rest of the group were stripped and body searched outside the Vodaofone and ShareTea stores in the Queen Victoria Building.

More to come.
