Norwegian Princess Ingrid Alexandra is moving to Australia to study at the University of Sydney, the palace has announced.

The 21-year-old will begin her Bachelor of Arts degree in August.

“She has chosen a three-year degree with a focus on international relations and political economy,” the palace said.

Alexandra will be studying full-time and living in a student residence on campus.

“Her Royal Highness looks forward to dedicating herself to her studies in the years to come,” the palace said.

Alexandra is the eldest child of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit and the grandchild of King Harald V.

She is the second in line to the throne, after her father.

Alexandra, who only recently began making greater public appearances, will have to step back from official duties during her time abroad.

Her move comes after Danish Count Nikolai of Monpezat completed a semester at the University of Technology in late 2023.

He now splits his time between Australia and Europe.
