Football fans have taken to Twitter to vent their frustrations after encountering issues with Channel Seven’s streaming service for Australia’s World Cup opener.
Seven has won broadcasting rights for the women’s tournament – co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand – with the network showing a handful of high profile games throughout the competition.
As such, Seven broadcast Australia’s opening match against Ireland in Sydney, with the Matildas looking to get off to a winning start despite being without Sam Kerr – who injured her calf in training on Wednesday.
But many fans claimed they were unable to watch the game as a result of issues on Seven’s streaming platform, 7plus.
‘Why is your app not working!!!’ one fan wrote. ‘Figure it out Channel 7… Geezus!!’

Another said: ‘Geez, if only someone could have predicted that millions of people would all want to be using 7plus at the same time tonight…’
‘What’s the go with your platform @7plus??’ a third fan said. ‘3 different browsers 3 different error messages saying why you can’t broadcast.’
One fan saw the funny side, though.
‘7plus has crashed with people watching the Matildas’ the fan said with laughing emojis.
