Hundreds of oranges and vegetables were left scattered across a busy road in Sydney’s Lower North Shore after falling off the back of a truck.
The major spill forced one of the two lanes to close along Fullers Road in Chatswood just before 6am on Wednesday.
The fresh produce was seen stretching for almost 100m along the road with drivers headed towards the Pacific Highway forced to reduce their speed to a crawl.
Today reporter Jack Hahn joked he didn’t think the produce would fetch much if they were for sale as ‘they are in pretty bad shape’.
‘Traffic is still getting past in lane two,’ he told 2GB’s Ben Fordham.
Hahn said it appeared the mesh on the left side of the truck had come loose.
Transport crews on the scene are trying to get the ripe spillage cleared.
