For the rest of the country, the massive outage has affected Friday night shopping, commutes, and even tickets for sports games.

Here are some of the ways the outages were felt across the country.

Lines grew as only cash payments were able to be processed, with some supermarkets and petrol stations reportedly forced to close early.

UberEats and Doordash were both seen to have small spikes in outages, which could also be caused by payment systems malfunctioning.

In Melbourne, the start of the AFL fixture Essendon vs Adelaide was pushed back while stadium staff scrambled to work out how to process fan’s tickets.

Eventually a temporary solution was worked out that would allow club members to make their way inside.

“Anyone with a digital ticket or membership to tonight’s game that has not been downloaded will receive an email,” the AFL said in a statement.

In the NRL, Raiders vs Warriors got underway without delay.

Some commuters in Melbourne had their evening ride disrupted as crowds were seen at Southern Cross station.
