Friends star Matthew Perry has died aged 54 at his home in Los Angeles, multiple US media outlets are reporting.

He suffered an apparent drowning in a hot tub, TMZ and LA Times have reported.

The American-Canadian actor is best known for playing fan-favorite Chandler Bing more than 10 seasons on the 90’s sitcom Friends.

Perry published a memoir titled, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, recounting his life and career last year.

Perry has also appeared in numerous other TV shows including Boys Will Be Boys, Growing Pains, Ally McBeal, The West Wing and Scrubs.
