Police are investigating after two people were stabbed in the early hours of the morning in South Australia.

Police and paramedics were called to a house on Columba Street in Morphett Vale just before 1am this morning.

When police arrived, they found a 27-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say four people forced their way into his home before a violent confrontation took place.

While police were on the scene, a 22-year-old man from Port Noarlunga presented himself to Flinders Medical centre with serious stab wounds.

Police believe he was stabbed in the same incident.

A crime scene has been established, and a police investigation is underway.

Police said they did not believe the stabbings to be a random event.

Anyone with information has been urged to come forward.
