Ford is recalling nearly 1400 Ranger and Everest models in Australia after a seatbelt fault was detected in models from 2022.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, said 1380 models are affected.
“Due to a defect during assembly, some vehicles may have the driver’s seatbelt assembled incorrectly. This will reduce the effectiveness of the seatbelt in the event of an accident,” the notice reads.
“If the seatbelt is not assembled correctly, it will not adequately restrain the occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury or death.”

Owners of affected vehicles are urged to notify Ford on 13 FORD (13 3673).
“Ford will contact affected owners when parts become available, requesting that owners make an appointment at their preferred Ford Authorised Dealership for inspection and rectification to be carried out free of charge,” the notice said.
The Ford Ranger is Australia’s highest-selling new car, with almost 4,500 Australians picking up the keys to a new model in February 2023 alone.
