Ford has issued an urgent safety recall for a popular four-wheel-drive and commercial van over fears a defect may increase the risk of serious injury.

More than 38,000 Ford Everest and Transit Custom Vehicles from 2022 to 2024 are potentially impacted.

The company has found the front windows could close and not stop if an arm is in the way.

“The auto reverse function may not operate until significant pressure is applied,” the recall notice said.

The company will contact vehicle owners in writing requesting they contact an authorised Ford dealer to have their vehicle rectified free of charge.
