Anthony Seibold (pictured with his wife in 2018) said shots allegedly fired into his home were 'nothing sinister'

The neighbour of NRL coach Anthony Seibold has been charged after allegedly shooting Mr Seibold’s house by mistake and keeping a cache of illegal guns.

Police attended the Manly Sea Eagles coache’s home on Tuesday night in North Curl Curl, on Sydney’s northern beaches, where they discovered the alleged mishap.

They claim they also found a stockpile of weapons at his 88-year-old neighbour’s property.

Mr Seibold said nobody was injured in the incident.

‘We’ve got a lovely neighbour who … unfortunately, an accident occurred where a bullet went through the garage,’ Mr Seibold told Nine News.

‘Look, it wasn’t anything sinister,’ he said.

Police arrived at the home about 8.30pm after a woman reported finding what appeared to be a bullet hole in the garage door.

Officers inspected the home, allegedly finding evidence of further shots fired through a wooden fence and a bullet graze on an exterior wall of Mr Seibold’s house.

‘Following inquiries, police spoke with a neighbour and executed a crime scene warrant on the premises,’ a NSW Police spokesman said.

Police will allege they found a .22 calibre pistol, a muzzle-loaded double barrel rifle and a box of ammunition.

Police laid five charges against Mr Seibold’s neighbour, including fire firearm in a manner likely to injure persons/property, two counts of possess unauthorised firearm and two counts of not keep firearm safely.

Police will allege the 88-year-old was not licensed to possess the firearms or ammunition.

The man is expected to appear at Manly Local Court on March 5.

Manly Sea Eagles top brass offered Mr Seibold a fresh coaching contract last year.

It came after his team reached the second week of finals before bowing out to the Roosters.

He will now lead the boys from Brookvale until the end of 2027.
