Central Coast Mariners star Angel Torres was arrested in dramatic scenes at Sydney Airport on Monday.
The forward was subsequently given bail after being charged with rape, assault and stalking, according to 7News.
Torres, 24, had returned to Australia from Kyrgyzstan after playing the full 90 minutes for the Mariners in their 1-1 draw against FK Abdysh-Ata Kant in the Asia Cup.
The case is due to be heard at Gosford Court next month.
Torres grew up in Colombia and played for Portuguese powerhouse Porto at youth level. He was sold to Portuguese side Alverca, then enjoyed a stint with Maltese club Balzan before moving to the Mariners in 2023.

Cryptically, Torres took to Instagram on Tuesday afternoon to post a statement.
‘No one can go against God,’ he wrote. ‘Stronger than ever.’
