Footage has shown a woman appearing to lie down in front of a stopped car on a Sydney street before a man crossed the road and appeared to film her, in what is believed to be a suspected scam attempt.

Dashcam footage posted to Reddit captured the interaction at Quakers Hill in the city’s north-west last week.

“My friend was driving in Quakers Hill when suddenly a woman lay on the road in front of his car,” the post said.

“They accused him of hitting the woman with his car and threatened him to pay them.”

The footage shows the woman walking in the direction of the car on a suburban street.

The driver stops the car as he sees the woman approach before she proceeds to lie down on the road.

A man crosses the road with his phone and appears to take a photo of the woman.

A car on the other side of the street came to a stop, while another woman walked over and helped the woman up.

A NSW Police media spokesperson said the incident had not been reported to local police.

“If anyone has information regarding the incident, they should contact their nearest Police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” the spokesperson said.
