Vision filmed from a Police Air Wing shows the 56-year-old perched on top of the rocky outcrop as waves crash around him.
“The 56-year-old was about 200 meters from shore at Bear Gully at 3.30pm and was fishing for approximately four hours,” police said.
“He noticed the tide come in around the rock and was unable to get back to the beach.”

His companion called emergency services and he was winched to safety.
“(He) was checked by paramedics but did not require any treatment”.
In the wake of the rescue, authorities have urged fishermen to be aware of water and weather conditions before setting out.
