While most Aussies were glued to the fireworks, New Year’s celebrations looked very different for the proud parents of the first little bundles of joy of the year.
Not only do they have a memorable birthday, but their arrival marks the start of a whole new generation.
“It’s a very beautiful moment for us,” new dad Budianto said.
“Shawn wanted to party, he likes (to) party,” Shawn’s mum Siska told 9News.
“I planned to go to Darling Harbour to see the fireworks around 11 to 11.30pm but then I got painful around 11, lucky I didn’t go,” she said.
Baby Shawn entered the world in a hurry, 17 days before his due date, happy and healthy, and weighing in at a healthy three kilos.
In Melbourne, baby Marya was born less than an hour later.
“It’s just top of the world feeling, you know, because looking at her as soon as she came out, we were in our tears because we just couldn’t hold it back,” new dad Vivek Menon said..
Marya arrived on her due date, one of the first of an entirely new generation.
Anyone children born between 2025 and 2039 are part of the new Generation Beta.
