The boyfriend of a teenage girl fatally struck by a bus in Brisbane’s CBD has shared the final heartbreaking message she sent him.

In the three months since the tragedy, her boyfriend Hayden McKinlay, has built up the courage to finally speak about her death.

He said he received a video message from Cameron showing off her beauty treatment in the moments after she stepped out of the salon.

“And yeah, our last phone call was ‘love you and I’ll see you soon’,” he said.

The couple were high school sweethearts, meeting when they were aged 12 and 13 years old.

“I still think I’m still going to hear from her, I’m still going to see her, the truth is it’s not going to happen,” McKinlay said. 

He said they were planning their future when the tragedy occurred.

“We had so much planned together, to travel, to buy our first home, to have children. It was all there until this happened,” he said.

The 70-year-old bus driver Lindsay Selby, was yesterday charged with one count of careless driving causing death.

Selby is due to face court on June 26.
