There is a sweet story about seven grown cousins surprising their grandparents with the best Christmas surprise ever that has gone viral..
Imagine being a grandparent and responding to your doorbell to find all seven of your grown grandchildren together and coming for a surprise visit. A surprise sleepover. How wonderful would that be?
There is a cute video out that shows 7 grown cousins, most in college, who show up on the doorstep of their grandparents’ home. They come with pizza and snacks and sleeping bags.

The grandparents are so happy. The cousins are close and decided to do this for their grandparents in the days before Christmas.
“Hi there! We came to have a sleepover,” a woman announced after the grandmother let her and her gaggle of cousins inside.
“Have a sleepover? Well, that’s great,” Grandma replied.
The granddaughter responded, “You don’t mind, do you?” to which Grandma declared, “Oh my gosh. It’s the best Christmas present ever.”
“So this has all been planned all along? This is something else,” the grandmother added before putting her hands on her face and tearing up.
They brought matching pajamas for their grandparents. They played card games and ate pizza, careful to clean up as they went so as not to overwhelm grandma. What a great memory for all of them.
Apparently, this is a trend on TikTok. I don’t use TikTok so I wasn’t familiar with the stories out there of other grown cousins doing it. It’s a wholesome and touching trend when so much on TikTok is garbage from what I see that is shared on social media. The cousins recreate sleepovers they had as kids with their grandparents.
Jess Armstrong and her cousins were all on board to jump on the trend two weeks ago and the 30-year-old shared her own TikTok video of her and her family – some of whom traveled across states – surprising their “mimi and papa” at their Michigan home on Dec. 22, ahead of Christmas.
“I texted all of my cousins in a huge group chat and I said, ‘We have to do this. It would surprise them and they would love it,’” Armstrong told “Good Morning America.”
Sure enough, Armstrong said her grandparents were taken aback but were “so excited” by the unexpected reunion of their grandchildren – eight of whom could attend in person and one via FaceTime.
She said it was especially meaningful to her “papa” who had been experiencing some health challenges in the past year.
“All night long, if the room got silent for a minute, he would tear up and he would just say, ‘I just can’t believe you guys did this. This is so exciting. This is the best present I could have ever asked for and I want you all to know I love each and every one of you so much,’” Armstrong said. “It was just so emotional because of all the health things he’s been going through.”
Armstrong said she and her cousins and grandparents all watched “Willy Wonka” together and overall, the evening was “fun” and “a good time” with everyone reminiscing together.
