The community project was erected in the middle of the Northern Highway in Wallan last week.
The pothole, dubbed the “Wallan Botanical Gardens” by locals, has since been removed and filled.
Liberal MP for the Northern Metropolitan Region Evan Mulholland said more funding was needed to fix regional roads.
“The Northern Highway is a state road so hopefully the actions of a cheeky Wallan resident will result in Labor actually taking notice and fixing the pothole and many others like it,” he told 9news.com.au.

“If this was a pothole in the inner city it would be fixed straight away. The state of roads in towns like Wallan are deplorable and it’s time for the government and VicRoads to treat them with the urgency they deserve.”
A Department of Transport and Planning spokesperson said that crews completed the repairs on the section of highway on Friday.
“We will continue to monitor this location in the meantime, continuing short-term emergency repairs when necessary,” the spokesperson said.
