Fast build homes are just one way Western Australians are bypassing tradie and building delays, with two-storey homes finished in just a week.
The quick and cost effective homes are taking the housing market by storm.
“There’s certainly change in the air and builders are seeing that they need to adopt a modern method of construction, which is exactly what steal framing is,” Max Pirone from Centurion Framing Systems told 9News.
It’s a significant time saver in the midst of building shortages.
“A builder works off progress claims and so the longer it takes for certain elements to be completed the longer it takes for them to be paid so we’re able to help them around that cash flow,” Pirone said.
The steel is all Australian produced, creating jobs and local investment opportunities.
Modular homes are another way WA is beating building delays, as sustainability meets style.
This method is delivering homes in about 16 weeks for 10-20 per cent less than a standard build.
“We’ve seen a real uptick in demand, we started with one yard, we now stretch over three facilities,” Jason Sjoland of Modular WA told 9News.
According to the Housing Industry Association, 30 per cent of new homes are being built using alternative methods with steel frame making up about 9.6 per cent of WA homes.
“It’s just a matter of people understanding or appreciating alternative methods that are available so once they actually realise there’s more than site build or brick and tile homes, people are becoming more accepting,” Sjoland said.
