Australian Open spectators have been warned they will be kicked out if they target Novak Djokovic.

There are concerns the former world No. 1, who was sensationally deported last year because of his refusal to be vaccinated against COVID-19, could be taunted by some Melbourne fans.
Tournament boss Craig Tiley told the Herald Sun any fans who are booted from Melbourne Park could also be hit with future bans from the tournament.

“If they disrupt the enjoyment of anyone else – boom, they are out,” Tiley said.

“We don’t want them on site.

“They can stay away or we will kick them out.”

Tiley said security would be on the lookout for troublemakers, but stopped short of stating there would be any kind of boo ban enforced.

He conceded there would always be people at the Open who “got things going” and there would be room for the usual kinds of fan behaviours.

“People from Melbourne and Victoria really understand sport well,” he told the Telegraph.

“So I have an expectation that people will appreciate that and be respectful.”

The Serb arrived in Melbourne on Monday, gunning for a 10th Australian Open title.
