The victim’s relative, radio presenter Stacey Lee, today described her injuries.
“She has scars and bruises and gashes on her face,” Lee said.
“She has some injuries to her hand and wrist so she has been in hospital all weekend and is awaiting surgery.”
While a 17-year-old charged over the alleged assault today fronted court for the first time, police are still searching for others involved in the incident.
It was one of several involving youths in the past week, but South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas denied that youth crime is an escalating problem.
“We saw in the most recent crime data that crime has actually gone down in a whole suite of areas in South Australia,” he said.
The 17-year-old charged over the incident fronted the youth court charged with several offences including aggravated assault.
He didn’t apply for bail and will remain behind bars until his next appearance next month.
