Ex-Yankees hitting coach Marcus Thames got an early taste at Aaron Judge’s star-making trait

Since leaving the Yankees coaching staff following the 2021 season, Marcus Thames has served as the hitting coach for the Marlins, Angels and, for the past two seasons, White Sox.

And at each stop, Thames said he’s gotten the same question from his hitters.

“Any team I’ve been with, guys ask me about Aaron,’’ Thames said Monday of his former pupil, Aaron Judge, currently having another historically strong offensive season in The Bronx. “And I tell them, ‘As great as he is, he always wants to get better.’ He’s the best there is and he keeps getting better and better and better.”

Thames first coached Judge with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2015 and saw some of the same traits that he still has.
