Former NRL star Sam Burgess has been arrested after he allegedly failed a random drug test.
The former South Sydney Rabbitohs premiership star, 34, was pulled over at Kingsford on Thursday morning for a random test and allegedly returned a positive result.
He was taken back to Maroubra Police Station for a second round of tests.
It’s understood detectives are awaiting those results before charges can be laid, Seven News reported.

Burgess was not meant to be behind the wheel as his licence is currently suspended.

He pleaded guilty to driving with cocaine in his system in February last year after highway patrol caught him behind the wheel of an unregistered car.
He was fined, put on a good behaviour bond, and ordered to take part in a traffic offender’s program. No conviction was recorded.
Burgess is due to appear in court over the latest alleged incident in February.
He recently went public with new girlfriend Lucy Graham, his first serious girlfriend since separating from wife Phoebe Burgess in 2019.
The former couple were married for four years and share two children.
The retired prop recently started a new role as assistant coach at the Rabbitohs.
