Ex-NFLer Sean Salisbury makes pitch to replace Shannon Sharpe

Shannon Sharpe may have gotten tired of working with Skip Bayless, but one former NFL player already is looking to fill Sharpe’s slot on the Fox Sports 1 show “Undisputed.”

Sean Salisbury — the host of “The Salisbury Show” on Sports Talk 790 in Houston — tweeted Wednesday night that he would love to have a chance to be Bayless’ next co-host.

“@FS1 I will pay my own way for that audition and battle with Skip. Move the needle!” Salisbury tweeted.

The 60-year-old Salisbury, who previously worked at ESPN after his playing days, was primarily a backup quarterback during a brief 40-game NFL career in the 1980s and 1990s, during which he started just 12 games for the Colts, Vikings and Chargers. He also played in the CFL.

Earlier in the day, The Post’s Ryan Glasspiegel reported that Sharpe and Fox Sports, the parent company of FS1, which airs “Undisputed,” had reached a buyout agreement.

Sharpe’s final show is expected to be after the 2023 NBA Finals conclude in June.

Sharpe’s popular “Club Shay Shay” podcast, which draws a big audience on social media and YouTube, also will be leaving Fox Sports, a source told The Post.

Some of the duo’s Fox colleagues were surprised by the departure of the 54-year-old Sharpe, a three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Famer.

Sharpe won two of those Super Bowls with the Broncos and one with the Ravens.

Sharpe was the clear choice to join as cohost with the 71-year-old Bayless on “Undisputed” after the controversial sports talker left his ESPN “First Take” partnership with Stephen A. Smith and joined FS1 in 2016.

“I’m stunned by this news of Shannon Sharpe leaving ‘Undisputed,’ I think it’s a huge loss for FS1,” Chris Broussard said on Fox Sports Radio’s “The Odd Couple” with co-host Rob Parker on Wednesday night. “I thought that he and Skip Bayless had at least gotten to a point where they could coexist, but apparently not.”
