Ex-Jets quarterback Mike White signs with Bills practice squad after Dolphins cut

Mike White is adding another AFC East team to his collection.

White, cut by the Dolphins on Monday, has signed a deal to join the Bills’ practice squad, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.

This came after ESPN’s Field Yates reported White had visited with Buffalo after he became a free agent.

White lost out on the Miami backup quarterback role to Skylar Thompson and was subsequently cut on Sunday before Tuesday’s 53-man deadline.

In three preseason games with the Dolphins, White — a 2018 fifth-round pick by the Cowboys — completed 46.5 percent of his passes for 179 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

He was also sacked five times.

White, 29, became a Jets fan favorite in 2021 when he filled in as a starter for the injured Zach Wilson in a Week 7 game, throwing for 405 yards in a win over the Bengals, who went on to win the AFC title.

It was the first 400-yard passing game for the Jets in 21 years, when Vinny Testaverde did so in 2000.

White, in eight games (seven starts) for the Jets in two seasons, threw for 2,145 yards with eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

The Bills have experience under center, with Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky has their top two signal-callers.

Buffalo takes on Miami in Week 2 on the road at Hard Rock Stadium.
