As emergency crews search for missing Queensland teenager Pheobe Bishop, questions are swirling about what happened to the 17-year-old.

There’s a lot we don’t know, but here’s what we do know.

Pheobe Bishop, 17, was last seen at Airport Drive outside Bundaberg Regional Airport about 8.30am on May 15.

Pheobe Bishop’s last known whereabouts

Bishop was last seen by her housemates on Thursday, May 15. They say they dropped her off outside the Bundaberg Regional Airport at 8.30am.

She had a ticket to fly from Bundaberg to Western Australia with a connecting flight via Brisbane.

She was travelling to WA to visit her boyfriend, however, she never entered the terminal or checked in for her flight.

There has been no confirmed sighting of the teenager or her luggage since then.

Police are treating the disappearance as suspicious and the homicide squad is assisting with the investigation.

Search area gets smaller as item of interest found

Police yesterday narrowed their search area to bushland near Gin Gin.

They say they have found an item of potential interest in the bushland, but it has not been confirmed what the item is or how it’s connected to Bishop.

Crews are conducting aerial, waterways and land searches of Good Scrub National Park today.

Fire and Rescue teams are preparing to fly a drone over the Good Scrub National Park just outside of Gin Gin, an hour away from where Bishop was last seen.

Disappearance ‘out of character’

In the early stages of the investigation, lead investigators said it was out of character for Bishop.

“It’s out of character for her not to make any contact with anyone,” Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson said.

“Police have reviewed CCTV from the airport, which indicates that she did not enter the terminal.”

Bishop’s mother Kylie Johnson, said earlier this week that the family’s “heartache and pain is raw and real”.

“We as a family are trying to hang onto the light of life that is our Free Spirited Gypsy Soul Phee Phee,” she posted on Facebook.

“Phee we need you home, we need to hear your sassy voice and feel your hugs.”

Bishop’s boyfriend told 9News that he was devastated and couldn’t believe the situation was real.

Police established two crime scenes

Police previously set up two crime scenes aside from the search area in the National park.

One crime scene was established at a house in Gin Gin where Bishop lived with her housemates.

Her roommates grey Hyundai ix35 with registration 414EW3 was also seized by police and made into a crime scene.

Police urged anyone who saw the car heading towards Bundaberg on Thursday to contact them.

No one is in custody over the disappearance.
