Eric Wynalda, ex-USMNT star, named in battery report involving teen in ugly soccer scene

Former U.S. men’s national team star Eric Wynalda has been named in a battery report stemming from an ugly soccer fracas involving a teenager, according to TMZ.

Wynalda, while coaching his son’s club team, is alleged to have called a player on an opposing team a “bitch” while also insulting his mother, according to the Las Vegas police report obtained by TMZ.

The teenager told police he shoved Wynalda, which led to a fight, and received a scratch in the aftermath, although he did not know who hit him, per TMZ’s report.

A parent called 911 to report the incident.

Sources told TMZ the game took a turn for the worse following a hard foul on Wynalda’s son, which sidelined him for the rest of the game.

A TMZ video shows Wynalda’s son being hit as he kicked the ball and fell to the ground.

The opposing player then started trash-talking Wynalda, according to TMZ.

A second video of the incident was also published Monday by the outlet and showed Wynalda, wearing a black and white tracksuit with a black cap, seemingly engaging with an opposing player in a red jersey.

The said player then pointed at Wynalda and walked over to him while seemingly speaking.

Wynalda then looked toward the field and held out his hands in a “What?” exclamation as another player in a red jersey walked toward him with the same hand gesture and pushed the former USMNT star.

The original opposing player then walked toward Wynalda as he backed up while the referee attempted to diffuse the situation. A player seemingly on Wynalda’s team ran toward the pushing player.

Players from both teams then ran in one direction and started a skirmish, while the player who first engaged Wynalda in the video threw a ball at Wynalda’s face.

Wynalda’s representatives declined comment to TMZ.
