A heartbroken wife has paid tribute to her husband, who was found stabbed to death in the front yard of their luxury home on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
Zdravko Bilic, 57, was found dead outside his home in Warana about 7.30pm on Monday.
Police believe he may have been killed after disturbing a suspected home invasion.
His wife, Gry Susann Tomte, had been in Melbourne, where she runs her popular high-end skincare business HÜD.
She contacted a neighbour on Monday evening after becoming concerned when she had not heard from Bilic.
Her neighbour headed to their home to find him dead in the front yard.
Tomte rushed home from Melbourne after the tragic news, remembering her husband as “loved by everyone”.
“He was the kindest, gentlest person I’ve ever known. Loved by everyone who ever had the fortune of meeting him,” she told 9News.
Detective Inspector Chris Toohey said Bilic was a “community-minded person who was well-loved in the area”.
“As you can imagine, it is a very difficult time, but the community are coming around (Tomte) and doing as much as they can for her at this time,” he said.
Toohey said Bilic may have interrupted a home invasion occurring at their own home but police have yet to find a weapon or narrow down when exactly he was stabbed to death.
“The timeline we are looking at is Sunday night at 11pm to 7pm on Monday 14th of July,” he said.
Anyone with information or CCTV of the area between that timeframe is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
