Opposition Leader Peter Dutton faces an “enormous” task in challenging the Albanese Government as it marks 100 days in power today, Nine Network Political Editor Chris Ulhmann said.
He told Today this morning that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese continued to enjoy a political honeymoon after his May election victory.
“They have struck the right tone. It’s been a good start … doing all the things they said, childcare, jobs and skills and climate on a voice to Parliament. They are still in the honeymoon period.”
But he said Dutton, who recorded a 17 per cent approval rating in a recent opinion poll, faced a mammoth challenge in appealing to voters.
“The opposition seem to be lost, that was an epic (federal election) defeat across the entire board, not just to Labor but to the Teals and to the Greens as well.
“The Coalition has an enormous amount of work to do to make itself competitive again.
“First it has to work out what it actually stands for in the 21st century.”
