Emergency responders were called to a Sydney marina after a motor yacht burst into flames this morning.
Firefighters were called to a spot near Birkenhead Marina at 10am after a boat erupted into flames, Fire and Rescue NSW said.
The boat was anchored underneath the Iron Cove bridge, between Rozelle and Drummoyne.
The first crews arrived on the scene by 10.12am and boarded an NSW Police boat to reach the fire, Fire and Rescue NSW said.
A water pump was used to get water onto the flames.
Five fire crews were sent in total with 18 firefighters working from both the ground and water to extinguish the fire.
The fire was under control by 11am.
A man, who was a worker on the boat, was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation before being released.
The yacht is now being towed to the western side of the marina to be properly extinguished.
It’s understood the flames are out, however, it is still smouldering.
