First responders were first called to Hervey Bay airport after the pilot attempted to make a mayday call to air traffic control.
Air traffic control never heard back from the man and reports came in shortly thereafter that he had crashed in a paddock near the intersections of Pialba-Burrum Heads and Anson Roads.
The man is in a stable condition and was seen with a large bandage over his left eye talking to emergency responders.
He has since been taken to Hervey Bay hospital.
More to come.
