An elderly woman has died after she was allegedly assaulted while she was a patient at Bankstown-Lidcome Hospital in Sydney’s west.

Police allege the incident began when another male patient in the hospital grabbed and assaulted two women, aged 63 and 58, on January 4 about 3am.

Officers allege the man then confronted and punched an 80-year-old woman.
