Neighbours have told of their shock after an elderly husband and wife were found dead at their home in Melbourne‘s north-east.

Elderly couple Doyne and Marlene Caspersz were found outside their home on Antigoni Court in Warrandyte around 9.30am.

Police are yet to determine the cause of the deaths.

They don’t believe the couple met with foul play but that won’t be confirmed until the results of the postmortem.

Neighbours have told 9News the couple was found in and next to the car in their driveway.

The pair, both in their eighties, had lived on the street for 25 years.

Doyne was the vice president of the Burgher Association, a club that represents the Sri Lankan ethnic group in Australia.

He and his wife have been remembered as pillars of the community.

Their distraught son spent today speaking with detectives at the house.

Their sudden, unexplained deaths have left neighbours in shock.

“I would love them to find out what it was whether it was a heart attack or whatever,” neighbour Don Savoria told 9News.

“It would put my mind at rest.
