A car allegedly collided with the cyclist on Plummer Street in Port Melbourne just after 8pm yesterday and drove off.

Police said the driver came forward shortly after and was taken into custody.

The cyclist, who’s yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

Police said Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives were investigating.

“The exact circumstances are yet to be determined, and investigations remain ongoing,” Victoria Police said, in a statement.
