The four men died when it’s believed a Peugeot travelled into the path of a ute at the intersection on Pine Lodge North and Cosgrove-Lemnos roads in Pine Lodge near Shepparton about 4.45pm on January 4.

There were five people in the Peugeot, which struck a road sign and ended up in a paddock after hitting the ute.

Four were been killed after a collision involving a car and a ute. (Nine)

All four passengers in the car, who were farm labourers from India heading home after a day’s work nearby, were killed.

The three sitting in the back scene were thrown from the car, with police believing they were most likely not wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the car, a 41-year-old Shepparton man, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, where he remains under police guard.

He has been charged with four counts of dangerous driving causing death and remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in June.

The driver of the ute, a 29-year-old Nathalia man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
