Drew Barrymore‘s fears of dating apps came to fruition after one guy bamboozled her into thinking he was the quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams.
On a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress-turned-talk show host explained why she was weary of her dating app, revealing that she usually only lasts “five days” before she decides to deactivate her account. And if her latest experience says anything, then she has good reason.
“This guy on my app said he was the quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams,” she recalled. “So I wrote to him and I was like, ‘Oh my god, I went to the first practice game. I was so frustrated being a girl from Los Angeles who loves football and we didn’t have any teams and then I moved away to New York and then we got two teams and it’s nice to meet you, my name is Drew.’”
According to Barrymore, her match was “not” the quarterback and was instead a “musician who thought he was being cute.”
When she asked how she should feel about this, co-host Ross Mathews said she should feel “lied to” and “robbed,” before joking, “I had a fantasy that you’re like the new Taylor Swift and you’d be at the games,” referencing the singer’s frequent support at her boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s matchups.
However, Barrymore thought it would’ve merely been fun to meet the supposed quarterback at this year’s Super Bowl since she and Mathews will be there for The Drew Barrymore Show.
“I wasn’t trying to land a football player,” she said. “I was excited to talk about that I had been at the Coliseum to see their first game in Los Angeles.”
But things only got worse when the guy called her “Drewski.”
“I was like, ‘I hate you. You [are] pithy, deceiving, playful. You’ve made me feel stupid. I don’t know who you are. I feel so dumb. Why did we have to get off on this foot? I hate you!’” she exclaimed.
Barrymore might not be joining Swift in the luxury suites just yet — but hey! Maybe some strapping NFL player will sweep her off her feet at the Super Bowl.
