Drew Barrymore Puts Underwear On Her Head While Learning How To Care “Down There” — Before Airing Live Pap Smear On ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’

It’s been well-established that The Drew Barrymore Show isn’t your average daytime talk show. While Drew Barrymore is often seen cozying up to her guests or conducting interviews from the floor, this morning’s episode introduced a new first for the hit show: a live Pap smear.

It all started when Barrymore — a strong advocate for women’s health — invited Los Angeles-based OBGYN Dr. Suzanne Gilberg-Lenz to the studio to offer tips on how to care “down there” for women.

One thing she said is not talked about enough is postpartum care — and ways women who just gave birth can relieve themselves of “pain” and “suffering.” In a live demonstration, Gilberg-Lenz instructed Barrymore on how to make a “pad-sicle” — but not before the host could have a little fun with it.

Before they got into it, Barrymore, who has declared her love for granny panties on numerous occasions, pulled a pair out from her desk and proceeded to put them on her head. Because, why not?

“By the way, I’m going home with these,” she joked. “They’re very cute. I love a boy short.”

Once Barrymore removed the underwear from her head, Gilberg-Lenz explained that people can saturate a maxi-pad in Witch Hazel, freeze it, and stick it in the “granny panties” for “on-the-go soothing.”

But wait! That’s not all.

After discussing periods and Pap smears, Barrymore threw to New York-based OBGYN Dr. Kameelah Phillips, who gave a live Pap smear to one of her patients.

“One thing that everyone should know is that they should not be painful,” she said prior to conducting the procedure. “There is a range, as you mentioned, in speculum sizes so always advocate for yourself and communicate with your doctor. If you’re having any pain, we have the flexibility to size down to make you comfortable.”

Philips continued, “We are conscious that we want this to be a comfortable and good experience for you because we know it’s so important and we want you to come back.”

This is hardly the first time the conversation has come up on The Drew Barrymore Show. In an April 2023 episode, Barrymore assisted Gilberg-Lenz in a less hands-on demonstration using a speculum and a powdered donut.

It’s never a dull moment on this show!
