A man charged after a child was killed by an accidentally fired gun has fronted court for the first time.
Zafer Halwani was charged with allowing an unauthorised person to possess a firearm, and not keeping a firearm safely after Mohamed Fattah, 9,was unintentionally shot in the neck at a property in Windellama near Goulburn in the NSW southern tablelands.
The 33-year-old appeared at Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday.
Police have told his lawyers there could be further investigations over more charges, which made his legal team reluctant to enter an official plea, the court was told.
But Halwani would likely plead not guilty to both offences, his lawyer told the court.

Emergency services were called to the rural property on April 13 to treat the nine-year-old for serious injuries, but the boy died at the scene.
Police set up a strike force to investigate the incident and also charged a 14-year-old boy with possessing an unauthorised firearm.
It’s understood the teen didn’t know at the time that the firearm was loaded.
He was granted bail and will appear before a children’s court on Friday.
