A photo from 1941 Chicago has gone viral with outlandish viewers making bold claims that it proves time-travel exists.

The black-and-white photograph, captured by photographer Edwin Rosskam, shows a group of young kids lining up for a flick at their local cinema.

But conspiracy theorists are getting a kick out of the nostalgic scene – with many commenting on Reddit that it proves time-travel.

Social media sleuths zoomed in on a boy standing to the far right, and pointed out what they saw.

In his hands appears to be an object that looks suspiciously like a 21st-century iPad.

‘Bottom line, the kids are adorable and proud to be who they are BUT how is the first kid in line holding an Apple IPad in 1941,’ one stunned Reddit user said. ‘Time for the theme from The Twilight Zone.’

Another confused commenter added: ‘Is that kid in line bringing in an iPad?’

‘All the way at the front you can see a kid with what looks to be an iPad,’ a third user chimed in.

But skeptics were quick to call out the ridiculous theories.

Some suggest the ‘iPad’ is nothing more than a Bible or leather-bound notepad.

Many claim because the kids were dressed in their ‘Sunday best,’ they were likely coming from church which would fit the bible theory.

‘Very likely coming from church to a Sunday afternoon show …. Which means that boy is holding a bible.’

Another user also said, ‘It’s not an Apple, whatever that is. The logo isn’t an apple.’

‘That’s a leather-bound diary, or a note book,’ a third user commented.
