Police say it was the second out-of-control party in the city last night after hundreds of people trashed a park hours earlier.
The party in Fremantle’s Booyeembarra Park saw 600 people pack into the abandoned amphitheatre.
Even fire twirlers joined the DJ in the evening’s entertainment line up.
Police were called at about 12.30am and declared the event out-of-control.
“I woke up at two o’clock in the morning and watched the biggest gathering I’ve ever seen in Booyeembarra Park and we’ve lived here for 20 years,” witness Candice Shields told 9News.
Officers and police dogs dispersed the crowd.
“There was heaps of people coming up and down this driveway,” witness Matteo Cuccovia said.
The party then moved to Port Beach – an hour’s walk away – which turned into another out-of-control gathering with hundreds of people.
Police say they asked the DJ at Port Beach multiple times to shut the party down but instead he turned the music up.
The 28-year-old Melville man was then charged with failing to comply.
From behind his decks to before a court next month, his Boxing Day bash leaving more than memories.
“It’s a beautiful park and it’s awful to see it being trashed this way,” Shields said.
