Hundreds of people, including NSW Premier Chris Minns, have gathered this afternoon in Forbes to farewell Molly Ticehurst, more than a week after she was allegedly murdered by her former partner.

A number of tributes for the 28-year-old were heard, including a note from her six-year-old son that was read out.

“Dear mum, I love you,” the message read.

“I wish you were here. You were the best mum in the world”.

“Molly didn’t have to leave us to grow her angel wings,” Tony Ticehurst, Molly’s father, said.

“Every parent would like to see their kid change the world,” he added.

“But not at this cost.”

Ticehurst, 28, was found dead at her home in Forbes on April 22.

Her former partner, Daniel Billings, has been charged with her murder. He had been released on bail days before her death.

Ticehurst’s death comes as a national debate rages on regarding about the alarming levels of gendered violence this year.

Yesterday, the federal government pledged almost $1 billion to support services for domestic violence.

Ticehurst’s family have said they want any new bail reform legislation to be called “Molly’s Law”.
