Anton Smolin, a dating app predator with an appalling history of denigrating women, has changed his name to a video game character in a futile attempt to hide his shameful past

A dating app predator with an appalling history of denigrating women has adopted the name of a video game character in a futile attempt to hide his shameful past.

Anton Smolin, who wrote a disturbing sex guidebook book titled Seduction Chronicles of a Psychopath, is now calling himself Anton Sokolov.

Anton Sokolov is the name of a sinister scientist, painter, sculptor, physician and inventor who appears in the action-adventure game Dishonored.

‘In his spare time, Sokolov is a drunkard and womaniser, as well as a wishful practitioner of black magic,’ says an online description of Sokolov.

Smolin has a history of sending abusive messages to women he meets on dating apps and told one vulnerable 20-year-old she should kill herself.

He has previously boasted in parts of his book, which was tendered in defamation proceedings, of having ‘de-virginised’ girls aged 14 and 15 in Brisbane.

The 43-year-old has labelled women ‘stupid b***hes’ and ‘fat pigs’ when they cancelled dates or changed meeting arrangements after matching with him online.

He has admitted to keeping an Excel spreadsheet of his ‘sexual conquests’ and called himself a psychopath ‘with almost no empathy or moral and ethical standards of any kind’.

Smolin has struggled to find work since Daily Mail Australia first exposed his vile treatment of women in November 2023.

The electrical engineer moved from Sydney to Brisbane last year and now lives in the city’s north-eastern suburbs.

Daily Mail Australia’s previous stories about Smolin no longer appear at the top of Google searches, six months after he unsuccessfully offered this reporter money to take them down.

In February, Smolin changed his name on the land title of a house in western Sydney to Sokolov then lodged a similar application for a Brisbane investment property last month.

He now appears as Anton Sokolov rather than Smolin on the National Engineering Register and on the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland’s website.

Smolin identified himself as ‘Anton’ in a brief telephone conversation on Friday but when asked why he had changed his name said: ‘Sorry, who are we talking about? I think you have the wrong number.’

Four women had described their dealings with Smolin and his habit of erupting in blind fury when they cancelled or changed arrangements made on Hinge.

Smolin told one woman who decided against meeting up, ‘Just f**k off, you stupid fat pig’, and told another who declined a second date, ‘You’re such a stupid, lying b***h’.

He sued for defamation in the NSW District Court, claiming Daily Mail Australia had destroyed his reputation and caused him to be sacked by wrongly portraying him as a psychopath, sexual predator and misogynist.

Smolin denied making offensive comments to women but his legal action backfired spectacularly in September last year after Smolin was unmasked as the author of Seduction Chronicles of a Psychopath.

Having abandoned his claim, Smolin continued to deny he wrote the book, even though his name, photograph and mobile phone number appear in publicity material.

Smolin’s Goodreads summary of Seduction Chronicles of a Psychopath, published in 2014, explained what readers could expect, including descriptions of acts too graphic to publish.

‘Some of the content is explicit, and some is very explicit,’ he stated.

‘If you would be uncomfortable reading about… a four-on-one gang bang of a blindfolded and tied-up girl, or a 20+ person orgy involving a toothless grandma and a mentally retarded person, then read no further.’

Parts of the book tendered in defamation proceedings offered advice to other men on how to overcome ‘last minute resistance’ from ‘targets’ and Smolin discussed the risk of being charged with rape if he had sex with an unconscious Lithuanian woman.

‘There is nothing in my rulebook about not f***ing a b**ch that I hooked up with, who just happened to pass out before giving consent,’ he wrote.

The book featured an Excel spreadsheet of women with whom Smolin claims to have had sex – including their names, ages, ratings of their attractiveness and prowess, and his age at the time.

It also showed images of naked and semi-naked women, some of whom appeared to be unconscious, suggesting the photographs were taken without their consent or knowledge.

As soon as it became clear the book would form a crucial part of Daily Mail Australia’s defence in the defamation case, Smolin capitulated and consented to a judgment and costs order being made against him.

Judge Judith Gibson also granted an application made by lawyers acting for this publication to hand Seduction Chronicles of a Psychopath to police for investigation into possible criminal conduct by Smolin.

It later emerged Smolin had been convicted and put on a good behaviour bond last March for using a mobile phone to menace, harass or offend a woman in January 2023.

Smolin had told 20-year-old student ‘Emma’ – who he knew was mentally fragile and did not want to have sex with him – she should kill herself.

Emma had obvious scars from self-harm which Smolin had seen in photographs on her social media profiles, and he used that knowledge to torment her before suggesting various methods of suicide.

Despite Emma insisting she had no interest in having sex with Smolin, he accused her of being a prostitute in a torrent of abuse which began on WhatsApp and continued via text after she blocked him.

Some of Smolin’s dating tactics were laid bare by the women who spoke to Daily Mail Australia in November 2023.

One woman who met Smolin on Hinge had made plans to meet him the next night but after several conversations over WhatsApp decided against it.

‘Hey there, I am actually going to pass I think, as I don’t think there’d be much of a connection there,’ she wrote.

The woman’s polite message was met with outrage from Smolin.

‘Why? I did nothing wrong. You’re such a weirdo time-wasting idiot,’ he said.

‘Just f**k off, you stupid fat pig. That’s the reason you’re single: because you’re an annoying fat piece of s**t. Nothing to do with not enough intelligent men being available.

‘Go eat some more takeaway… Men love fat pigs.’

'First you cancel, then last minute tell me that you're not into anything sexual,' Smolin wrote to 'Emma'. 'WTF? You're so f***ing stupid, rude and inconsiderate'

Another woman who declined a second date with Smolin after drinks at the Opera Bar received a barrage of abuse when she told him ‘we don’t really click.’

‘I cannot believe what a rude, annoying, inconsiderate idiot you are,’ Smolin said.

‘If you did not want to meet, you could have just said so. There was no need to waste so much of my time. You’re such a stupid, lying b***h.’

Smolin objected when a third woman told him she would be driving to the same harbourside venue because it was a Monday night and she did not want to drink.

‘No,’ he wrote. ‘Date cancelled.’

Smolin contacted Daily Mail Australia in October last year offering money to have the stories about him taken down so they could not be accessed online.

He said the articles were ‘hindering my ability to earn a living’ and claimed he had to financially support his sick mother.

‘I need to find a well paying job in order to take care of my family and myself, and your articles are preventing me from doing that,’ he wrote.

One of Smolin's online profiles stated he was 'wealthy, intelligent, confident, tall and handsome', with a 'great sense of humour' and 'highly developed conversational skills'

‘I am sorry for any wrongdoings that I have done. I assure you that I will be on my best behaviour from now on.

‘That ancient book you dug up was written more than 10 years ago, and is about stuff that happened 10-20 years ago. I am a completely different person now.

‘We all have made mistakes in the past. Would you like payment in exchange for taking the articles down? If yes, how much?’
