Footage of two drivers speeding bumper to bumper before crashing into a fence and fleeing the scene has gone viral online.

Vision uploaded to social media shows a blue sedan trailed closely by a white Mercedes ute travelling at high speed in the same direction.

In the clip, the blue car can be seen readying itself to turn right onto a side street when it is nudged from behind by the ute, causing both cars to smash at speed into a metal fence and garbage bins.

The video was shared to the popular Facebook page Dash Cam Owners Australia.

‘We heard a crash… fence was gone. We checked cameras and found the video,’ the uploader said.

‘Both drivers took off after crash.’

The driver of the white ute continued to drive off after the collision while the driver of the blue sedan hopped out of his vehicle and appeared to try and get a view of the ute’s numberplate before he also fled the scene.

Commenters on the video had their own theories on what caused the incident.

‘Obviously something happened between both vehicles prior to that incident. As both doing a hefty speed down the street and with dual cab tailgating. Absolute f***tards the pair of them and to do a runner as well,’ one person commented.

‘The ute has nudged him deliberately. Been watching too many reruns of COPS,’ a second person wrote.

‘Well I wasn’t expecting that,’ a third said, to which another responded, ‘neither was the fence.’
