Daniel Ricciardo is back in the driver’s seat — at Hulu.
The Formula 1 race winner, who is currently taking a year out of the sport, said his scripted F1 series at the Disney-owned streamer is going “full steam ahead.”
“It’s good, I’m enjoying it,” he told us at the Australian Grand Prix earlier this month.
While the Aussie sportsman — who will executive produce the series — remained tight-lipped about the script, he said casting was slated to begin “pretty soon.”
Ricciardo’s foray into TV production was first announced last June when The Hollywood Reporter reported that the half-hour scripted series was being developed by ABC Signature, Temple Hill and Lionsgate TV.
“I’ve really enjoyed having a bit more time for it this year,” the “Drive To Survive” fan-favorite said of his off-track endeavors.
“During the [F1] season … I can’t even necessarily keep up with everything else going on, so having the chance to prioritize things has been really important for me this year.”
Ricciardo’s contract with McLaren Racing was cut short last summer and he failed to secure a seat with another team on the 2023 F1 grid. However, he was picked up by Red Bull Racing as the championship-winning team’s reserve driver.

“Moving forward — if I do get back on the grid next year — I think I’ll have a clearer idea of how I want to go racing,” he said.

“It’s given me a chance to reshape a bit of my structure,” the racer continued, noting he’s enjoyed putting more time into the show, and his wine brand, DR3 x St Hugo.
His new show comes amid news that several other F1 projects are underway at major studios.
Streaming giant Netflix has picked up “Drive To Survive” for a sixth season, along with a biopic series about the life of three-time world championship-winner Ayrton Senna.
Meanwhile, Apple won a bidding war for the currently unnamed F1 feature starring Brad Pitt.
The film will be helmed by “Top Gun: Maverick” director, Joe Kosinski, and produced by Lewis Hamilton.
