Dak Prescott couldn’t believe the Cowboys’ failed fake punt attempt

Dad Prescott’s view from the press box was not an enjoyable one on Monday night.

The Cowboys quarterback, officially placed on season-ending IR earlier in the day, could only watch as his teammates failed to convert a fake punt in the first quarter.

Facing a fourth-and-9, Dallas lined up for a punt, only for Bryan Anger to instead loft a pass to safety Juanyeh Thomas, who was quickly tackled by Houston’s John Metchie III — five yards short of the first-down line.

Prescott could only put his hands up in disbelief.

It marked the second failed fake punt attempt in three weeks for the Cowboys, who are in need some — any — good news in the midst of a 3-6 season.

Monday’s game got off to an ominous start before kickoff, when a piece of the AT&T Stadium roof broke off and fell as it was opened.

No one was injured by the metal debris and the decision was made to close the roof.

Once the “Monday Night Football” matchup began, the Cowboys struggled to contain Texans running back Joe Mixon, who racked up 71 yards and two touchdowns by the three-minute mark of the second quarter.

On the plus side, quarterback Cooper Rush connected with KaVonte Turpin for the 64-yard touchdown — the team’s first at home since Week 3.
