The father of CashApp founder Bob Lee stabbed to death in San Francisco early Tuesday morning described his son as his “best friend” and the “smartest person I have ever known” in a heartbreaking tribute on social media.
“I just lost my best friend, my son Bob Lee when he lost his life on the street in San Francisco early Tuesday Morning,” Rick Lee wrote.
“Bob would give you the shirt off his back,” the grieving dad continued.
“He would never look down on anyone and adhere to a strict no-judgment philosophy.”
The 43-year-old Lee, a dad of two, was attacked in the ritzy Rincon Hill neighborhood — in Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s district — at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday, San Francisco Police said.
He died of his injuries at a local hospital. Police have yet to identify a suspect and are asking the public for help in finding the stabber.
“I moved to Mill Valley, CA with Bob after his mother died in 2019 and we recently relocated to Miami in Oct 2022. Life has been an adventure with two bachelors living together, and I’m so happy that we were able to become so close these last years,” the elder Lee wrote on Facebook.
“Bobby worked harder than anyone and was the smartest person I have ever known. He will be missed by all those that knew him. Thank you to those who have reached out in support.”

Lee was a tech entrepreneur and formerly served as the chief technology officer of Square.
