Cuomo: southern states were right about immigration

Remember when the Left went all swoony over Andrew Cuomo?

Personally, I was never a “Cuomosexual” but a bunch of liberal women was.

Not Cuomosexual enough to forgive him for his #metoo sins, however. He wound up leaving the New York governor’s mansion under a cloud due to his alleged inappropriate behavior with women and costing his brother his job as well.

Well Andrew, being a Cuomo and an Italian who holds grudges like an Irishman (yes, I am embracing the stereotypes to annoy people), is striking back at the Left by admitting that the Left’s favorite policy after killing babies is a disaster.

He is saying the quiet part out loud: DeSantis, Ducey, and Abbot are right about how disastrous Biden’s open borders policies are.

Former New York governor Andrew Cuomo has ripped President Biden’s chaotic open border policy — blasting the administration as unprepared and admitting that the “southern states were right.”

“It was a mistake for President Biden to open the border without having a plan to handle the tremendous flow of people,” Cuomo, 65, said in the latest episode of his “Matter of Fact” podcast, released Wednesday.

“President Biden had said he would do it in the campaign — but you can’t change a policy unless you have the program in place to manage the change,” he continued, referencing Biden’s reversal of Trump-era restrictions on immigration to the US.

The scandal-scared former politician accused the Biden administration of not understanding the “consequences of enacting those promises.”

Well, duh. Democrats hate homelessness until it becomes their go-to choice for admitting illegal aliens. If adding to the population of people living on the streets and under bridges is the price they pay for adding to the hoards of illegal migrants entering the US, it is a price they will pay gladly.

“The southern states were right that opening the border created a tremendous hardship for them to handle. They were right that the federal government was not prepared,” Cuomo declared, though disagreeing with those states busing migrants north to sanctuary cities.

Is that any different than busing illegal aliens to Canada? That’s what Mayor Adams of New York City is now doing to relieve the pressure on his city’s services. It turns out that being a sanctuary city is all well and good until you have to actually provide sanctuary. Once that happens the appropriate thing is to whine loudly about how unfair it is and then send the migrants to Canada.

There are several reasons the Biden Administration opened the floodgates at the southern border, but one of them was to burden Red states, exhaust their budgets, and politically harm the governors. In other words, pure malice toward Red state voters and politicians.

Those governors wisely decided to give the northern liberal sanctuary states the pleasure of dealing with the crisis, sending a tiny fraction of the migrants to those places that claimed to desperately want to help. It turned out that even a small fraction of the migrant population was too burdensome to bear.

I hope that Trudeau in Canada, that smug sociopathic “leader,” discovers that it is easier to act morally superior when you don’t have to pay the price. Adams will be helping him prove his moral superiority, and I guess that as with New York City Canada will find that living one’s values is different than virtue signaling.

It’s nice to see that at least one liberal is speaking the truth, and obvious to see why he feels free to do it. Cuomo needs to find a new base of supporters since his old ones abandoned him in his time of need. For Cuomo this is payback.

And payback’s a bitch.
