Authorities were called to catch the crocodile, remove it from the public waterway and take it to a holding area while flood waters recede.

Locals are being warned to be aware of the presence of crocs in unexpected places amid the flooding, with the animals known to be in most waterways.

Ingham is located downstream of fast-flowing flood water from Far North Queensland.
